The Austrian delegation, lead by Secretary General Thomas Schmid, visited Washington, DC from July 13 - 15, 2017. They met with U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch (R-UT), who serves as Chairman of the Senate Finance Committee. This Committee has the largest jurisdiction in either House of Congress and oversees more than 50 percent of the federal budget.

Working meetings at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the International Monetary Fund, and at the think tanks Tax Foundation and Heritage Foundation followed. The tax reform proposal of the Trump administration, digital economy tax, and the Internal Revenue Service were among the topics discussed.
